Second City Salvage is offering today this fabulous pair of brass sconces that date to the Arts & Crafts era c1905-1915. The slumped double petal glass shades were popular at the turn of the last century. These are attributed to R. Williamson although they are not marked. These are smaller than the ones shown in the Williamson Catalog from c1915 (last photo) and multiples were used on chandeliers and lamps. According to the catalog, it looks like you could choose the glass color as well. These here are in mint condition and the glass petals on the inside are a very light blue (almost white) and the outside petals are a creamy gold opalescent. I paired them with classic but simple brass sconces from the same period (shade holders are marked with ’03 and ’04 patent dates). Overall measurement is 6″w x 11 1/2″h and they will project 10″ from the wall once installed. Shades themselves are 7″w x 6″h and have 2 ¼” fitters. Canopies are 4 1/2″ square x 3″h. These accept a standard base bulb, wiring has been updated and tested and we will include a modern cross bar needed for installl. The cast brass repousse on these shades are topped with roses with leaves and what look to be nasturtiums cascading downward. Just a lovely pair of lights to bring a touch of old world elegance to your space. We are not willing to separate this pair.
