Second City Salvage is offering today this c1920s semi-flush mount light in the Classical Revival style. It measures 6″w and will drop 10 ½” from the ceiling once installed. The shade itself is 6″w x 7″h and has a 4″ fitter. The shade is free of any cracks or chips, but some of the pattern on the exterior of the shade has worn off in spots and suffered some surface scratches over the last 100 years as shown in the last two pictures. The steel canopy has been painted and measures 5″dia. x 3 1/2″h. The influence of Classical Revival design stretched across the late 1800s into the 1930s. This design was widely found in public buildings and formal homes, but these impressive fixtures fit perfectly in contemporary homes today. Often showcasing powerful architectural forms and motifs such as the acanthus leaf, Greek key and wave patterns, these lights can have a very modern feel. The light accepts a standard base bulb and will come to you with updated wiring, a new socket with functional pull chain and a modern bracket needed for install.
