Second City Salvage is offering today this hammered cast iron candle sconce which I believe is copper plated and dates to around 1910 (give or take a few years). When received, it was painted gold and lacquered and once stripped down, this was the fantastic patina we found underneath. It has only been lightly cleaned. I looked at several old catalogs to see if I could find it as it has a Biddle Gaumer look about it, but came up cold. It has an indistinguishable casting mark on the back, but no manufacturers mark. It accepts a standard base bulb, will come to you with a new phenolic socket and updated wiring although the turn switch has been bypassed because a new switch would take away from it’s vintage vibe so will need to be hard wired into a wall switch. It is perfect for a smaller space and measures 4 1/2″w x 10″h to the tip of the bulb shown (not included) and will project 6″ from the wall once installed. A great representation of the Arts & Crafts era or would also be nice in a Tudor setting.
