Second City Salvage is offering today this old c1920 cast iron porch light/sconce that was salvaged from an Iowa church built in in the early 20th century. This light has been completely restored and has the original patina which includes some rust and loss of black paint. We hit it with a wire wheel to get rid of most of the corrosion and then sprayed it with a flat clear lacquer to keep it from rusting any further. The patina is fantastic! A period etched and wheel cut starburst glass globe shade has been added. Here are the dimensions! Wall plate is 5″w x 9 1/2″h, overall height is 12″ x 5″w and the projection from the wall once installed is 8″. At some point, someone notched the backplate, probably to accommodate wiring, but if you can overlook that… I certainly could. It’s really all about the shade which is fairly rare and in mint condition. The shade itself is 5″w x 6″h and has a 3″ fitter. This light has some very simple Arts & Crafts detailing and will be a great focal point for an entry way. The light accepts a standard base bulb, has been tested, will come to you with updated wiring, a new socket, a modern cross bar and will be ready to install. The shade does need to be removed for a bulb change so an LED is recommended.
