Description
Second City Salvage is offering today this brass 2-light brass sconce that dates to the Arts & Crafts era c1905. This light was painted when received so once that was stripped off, this is the patina that we found underneath. It has only been lightly cleaned. The top light was formerly a gas jet that has been converted to electric with a brass sleeve added to cover the candelabra bulb socket. The other standard base socket has been restored and is original and has been paired with this phenomenal period exterior etched octagon shade. Shade is in excellent condition with no visible chips, cracks or other condition issues. There is a small chip to the fitter edge which disappears once it is placed on the shade holder. This is not notable, but I have to mention. Overall measurement of this light is 4″w x 15″h (to the tip of the candelabra bulb) and it will project 7 1/2″ from the wall once installed. The canopy is 4 1/2″ square x 3″h. The shade itself is 4″w x 5″h and has a 2 ¼” fitter. Both lights light up simultaneously, but the down light can be controlled by the paddle switch on the socket. The up light does not have its own switch and the “key” shown was for the gas jet and is purely decorative. It will come with updated wiring and will be ready to install.
