Second City Salvage is offering today this very high quality cast bronze five-light chandelier c1932 that was salvaged from a Portland, OR residence very recently. We were able to pair it with these lovely and insanely rare art glass shades which we believe are threaded Quezal leaf and vine pattern, but are not signed, but most definitely period art glass and work perfect with this chandelier. Overall measurement is 19″ diameter and it will drop 24″ from the ceiling once installed. The canopy measures 5″ dia. All shades are in mint condition and each shade measures 3 ½”w x 3″h with a 1 ½” opening at the bottom. The chandelier accepts five standard base bulbs. I would suggest appliance or marquee shape so they fit well inside the shades. It will come to you with period correct cloth covered wiring and a modern cross bar needed for install.
Note: Quezal was founded in 1901 by Martin Bach Sr. and some former Tiffany employees. From the beginning, Quezal was considered the first real competition for Tiffany. Eventually Martin Bach Sr became the majority owner in the company, and when he died in 1921 his son took over who was not as adept a businessman and Quezal closed in 1924. Even with a couple of decades worth of inventory, Quezal kept its production limited compared to their contemporaries, so the surviving pieces are sometimes hard to come by.
