Second City Salvage is offering today this antique Art Deco ceiling pendant light by Lightolier which is from their “Luxelier Series” that dates to the late 1920s or early 1930s (see last photo in the listing for a page from their 1930 catalog). All components of the light (even the chain) are brass that is silver plated and in very nice condition. The glass at first glance looks oddly plain but upon closer inspection you can see that it’s actually quite dynamic. The exterior finish is a combination of glossy almost tree bark texture with spots in a low relief that are matte. It’s not a design per se but your eye almost wants it to be one. On the underside each corner that frames the candle sockets there is a subtly palmette. Finally, the glass looks very slightly solarized (purple) and it has an iridescent finish visible mostly when off. There are no cracks or chips, only some rough edges around the top that you will never see. The light measures 16”w and will drop 42” from the ceiling once installed. The chain itself is 21” long so there is plenty of room if it needs to be shortened. The light accepts four standard base bulbs (not included), will come to you with updated wiring and a modern cross bar needed for installation.
