Second City Salvage is offering today this cast bronze figural sconce that I believe was made by Biddle & Gaumer, Philadelphia c1905. I have paired this piece with a Quezal Gold Aurene art glass shade (in mint condition) that is perfect for this light. It measures 6”w x 11”h and will project 4” from the wall once installed. The shade itself measures 3 ½”w 4 ¾”h, has a 2 ¼” fitter and is signed (last photo). This is a rather unusual sconce although there are chandeliers and other sconces that show laughing and grimacing monks – this guy has a rather pensive and serious look about him. We believe this is a depiction of Dante Alghieri, the 13th Century medieval Italian Poet (Dante’s Inferno – 6th photo) based on responses I have received across the Internet. A perfect little light for a smaller space that will make a statement wherever he is installed. Wiring has been updated and new paddle switch socket has been installed. It accepts a standard base bulb and will come to you with the screws needed for install.
