Description
Second City Salvage is offering today this rare chandelier by Gross Chandelier Co. from their Normandy line c1920s. The frame and stem of the light is ornately cast aluminum with a pattern of vines and flowers and has the original burnished finish. It has only been lightly cleaned. Ceiling canopy is original and measures 5” dia. x 3”h. Overall measurement of the chandelier is 19”w and it will drop 27” from the ceiling once installed. It has been restored from head to toe with new sockets and the wiring has been updated with period correct cloth wiring. It will also come with a modern cross bar needed for installation. The shades are original and are amber satin glass with clear tips. The shades are all in what I would consider to be excellent condition. Three are in mint condition. Any chips to the backs on two of them are minimal and would be hidden once placed on the light fixture. One has a small chip to the outer edge that is not noticeable unless scrutinized up close. Each shade measures 5”w x 8”h x 4 1/2” projection. The last photo in the listing shows a photo from a 1920s Gross Chandelier Co. catalog showing this chandelier as a part of their “Normandy” line. A lovely and rare piece that will make a bold statement in any Art Deco setting.
