Second City Salvage is offering today this antique wall mount sponge holder that dates to around 1910 or earlier. It is fabricated of nickel plated brass and is not marked. Not all manufacturers of bathroom accessories marked their pieces, so this one could be J.L. Mott, Wolff, Brasscrafters, Art Brass/San-O-La, Sternau, Good Mfg. or any of the companies that produced bathroom accessories back in the early part of the 20th century. The plating is original and in reasonably good shape, but some brass is showing through in part on the sponge holder (last photo). It is a heavy, high end piece. Great shape for a its age – it polished up nicely. Overall, it measures 5 1/2″w x 3 3/4″h and will project 4 1/2″ from the wall once installed. Sponge holder itself is 5 1/2″w x 4″w x 1 3/4″d. A great period piece for your vintage inspired bathroom or kitchen.
