Second City Salvage is offering today this old fuller ball faucet manufactured by A.Y. McDonald Mfg. Co., Dubuque, IA probably c1920. This type of faucet was popular in the late 19th and early 20th-century before modern washerless and ceramic disc valves took over. It uses a grape-sized rubber ball held by a stem, which wedges into the water inlet port to seal it tight. Turning the handle pushes or pulls the internal stem, rolling or unseating the rubber ball from the port opening. Overall measurement is 8 ½”w and stands 4″ high once installed, supply lines are 3 1/2″ on center. It is constructed of nickel plated brass and the nickel plating is in age consistent condition as shown in the photos. Hot and cold handles turn easily and the faucet is one that will take a hand held shower where the hose would fit over the faucet. It needs restoration, has not been tested and is being sold as is/as shown.
