Second City Salvage is offering today this heavy cast iron porch light that was salvaged from a c1924 Craftsman bungalow in the Nokomis neighborhood of Minneapolis that was original to the house. It was manufactured by Moe Bridges, Milwaukee, WI. It has been completely restored. Lovely details on this light! Features a classic protective wire “trouble cage” over the internal amber glue chip glass globe and a wide mounting flange. It measures 5 3/4”w and will drop 12 1/2” from the ceiling once installed. After we were able to get all the crud off, we elected to just hit it with flat lacquer to keep it from rusting any further. The glass shade has one flaw… a tiny hole in the side of it that is not noticeable unless scrutinized up close. It has lived like that for many years so who’s to say it won’t last another 102 years installed under an overhang. It is unmarked by a manufacturer, but there is a casting number on the underside “45005.” The light accepts a standard base bulb (LED recommended) and will come to you with updated wiring, a new ceramic socket and a modern cross bar needed for install.
