Second City Salvage is offering today this amazing set of solid bronze pull bars that were salvaged from the Minnesota Building in downtown St. Paul some years ago. I have four sets of these and when received they were not only lacquered, but heavily water damaged. We were able to get them cleaned up and this is the patina that we found underneath. They are solid bronze and heavy and came off entry doors to the building which was completed in 1929. Within the Twin Cities, the Minnesota Building was an architectural first and a sign of things to come. All previous twentieth-century construction in St. Paul had been in the traditional Beaux-Arts, classical, or neoclassical styles. The Minnesota Building was the first art-deco-style and modern building in the Twin Cities. These pull bars have nice Art Deco detailing on the ends and come with the mounting hardware and screws needed for install. They measure 34″long x 8 1/4″h and will project 2″ from the surface once installed. Each set is stamped “PULL.” They are priced individually, but I will offer a discount if multiples are purchased by the same buyer. Be creative! These would be perfect in a commercial setting in a restaurant or any other commercial space where you want to lend an Art Deco vibe and a bit of St. Paul history. In 2009 the Minnesota Building was added to the National Register of Historic Places. It was converted from offices to mixed-income housing by 2011. We feel very lucky to be able to offer these.
