Second City Salvage is offering today this vintage toilet paper holder by Crane. It is a beefy piece that is made of cast brass and then plated in polished chrome probably c1930. It has signs of wear, some nicks and some of the chrome plating has worn off in spots, but overall in good shape. It has only been lightly cleaned to remove lime deposits and paint that have accumulated over the years. It has the Crane mark on the backplate. It is larger in scale and was probably an industrial installation initially and measures 7 1/2″w x 3″h and will project 5 3/4″ from the wall once installed. There’s a unique design to change the roll. The spindle must be pinched from the inside to slide the end out. Not exactly convenient, but it works (last photo). Hence the price. It still shows nicely and would be a great addition to your vintage bathroom with an industrial vibe.
