Description
Second City Salvage is offering today this antique c1920 classic chain pendant with a lovely Quezal art glass shade with the leaf and vine pattern (unsigned). As you can see the shade doesn’t have a typical fitter. It’s held into place with a spring loaded collar that clips into the lowest raised ring of the fat boy socket. Rewired with period correct cloth cord and given a modern crossbar. Ready to install! 20″ long total with a 3″ canopy. Brass and brass plated steel (chain). Shade measures 3 ½”w x 3″h with a 1 ½” opening.
Note: Quezal was founded in 1901 by Martin Bach Sr. and some former Tiffany employees. From the beginning, Quezal was considered the first real competition for Tiffany. Eventually Martin Bach Sr became the majority owner in the company, and when he died in 1921 his son took over who was not as adept a businessman and Quezal closed in 1924. Even with a couple of decades worth of inventory, Quezal kept its production limited compared to their contemporaries, so the surviving pieces are sometimes hard to come by.
