Description
Second City Salvage is offering today this antique c1922 electric fireplace unit manufactured by Universal Electric Co. out of Chicago. It was salvaged from a Chicago residence and has been fully restored – cleaned and rewired with period correct black cloth wiring. It does not need to be hard wired, will plug into an outlet and lights up on the inside with two red standard base bulbs which I will include. There is also a switch on the back in which to turn it on and off. Log is made of heavy cast aluminum and the andirons are cast bronze with intricate details on the shields. The polychrome paint is in excellent condition with no loss and the colors remain vibrant. Overall measurement is 25”w x 22”h x 12”. The plate on the back that bears the patent date of October 24, 1922 cracks me up where it says, “Not How Old, But How Modern.” This rare piece is the perfect decorative element for that abandoned coal fireplace in your old house!
