Second City Salvage is offering today this old nickel plated wall-mount brass cup/tumbler or shaving brush holder that dates to the early 20th century. It is unmarked, but could have been made by any one of the manufacturers of bathroom accessories of the time such as Brasscrafters, Art Brass, Sternau, Silvers, or Wolverine. Not all companies marked their pieces. There is also a small hook on the arm that would have accommodated a razor strop which makes me think this piece could have originally been a shaving brush holder. Patina is original and the nickel plating is in great shape with no real loss of finish – it has only been very lightly cleaned. The piece measures 3″w x 3 ½”h and will project 4″ from the wall once installed. The holder itself is 3″ dia. x 2″depth.
