Description

Second City Salvage is excited to offer this large scale c1905 42″ round stained glass window. It is comprised mostly of Kokomo opalescent glass pieces that we believe this pattern could have been attributed to John LeFarge. We are not sure where this window was originally installed, but the few experts that I consulted think that it could either have come from a church or possibly a ballroom in a mansion, possibly third floor installed in a gable? Sounds like a great possibility don’t you think? We have no provenance on that end as it was found in a barn in Minnesota. The center of the window has a pattern in shades of deep orange with green leaves surrounded by creamy gold opalescent pieces with a lavender and deep green border. It is supported by two rebars on the interior side. It could be installed in a ceiling as a skylight. It could be hung from the frame and shown in front of a large window. When the light hits it, it literally glows. The possibilities are endless. The original frame has been restored – sanded down and repainted a rich graphite color. As far as the glass, there were a few pieces that were missing that had to be matched as close as possible and then there were some lead overlays done to also cover significant cracks. Soldering was done to strengthen the lead caming where needed. New glazing was applied to the interior of the window. As it stands right now, this piece will last another 120 years!

Second City Salvage will ship your item fully insured via white glove, blanket wrap carrier or commercial freight to the lower 48 states. Please contact us with your Zip Code for a quote. Local Twin Cities delivery is available and local pick up is free.
